More Celtic Knots

Still working on the fairy album, and I needed a nice big long knot for this layout:

I created it in inkscape to be 20" by 3", and spread it on a 24" mat with center matching a center joint where I placed my two letter sized papers. Then I drew with a marker and cut.

While working on this knot I created it in a smaller version, a small round-end version, and a shamrock knot. Here's what they look like, and all are available for download following the post. Hope you enjoy them!

DRAGON!

My littlest person, Teagan, loves her dragon!

She also likes paper! So, I've made this little dragon for her (and for my fairy theme book, a work-in-progress) in the Webkinz style:

I have a few versions of this dragon that you can download: The webkinz-style one above, the dragon with paws in front, and another with paws and no horns. I hope you'll let me know if you use one of them! Thanks for visiting!

Stretch the Dragon!

Here's a sneak peak at a layout I'm working on, and the dragon that goes with it!

I'm doing up my girls' fairy pictures from last year, and the whole album has a fairy tale type theme. Lots of Tinker Bell used, but Hannah Montana too -- but no suitable dragon! So, here's Stretch! She's based on a Teresa Wentzler design, which is a freebie available here. While TW's design is freely reproducible, I would appreciate it you do not share my svg, but direct others who want it to my blog instead.

Anyhow, Stretch is also painted on my front hallway arch. I love her :-) I'm pretty happy with how she fits in with the Hannah Montana icons, too. Enjoy!

Here's the sneak peak of the companion side, with HM cuts.

I think Stretch the dragon matches the pegasus nicely! Download her before but be warned: she's LONG! I cut her at 10" by 1.25". Also, she does not shadow well except at 1 and 1.5; she does blackout nicely though! More dragons later, and the completed Fairy scrapbook in a couple weeks! Thanks for dropping by!

New Tutorial! Creating tags with printing!

For the journalling on my latest layout, I wanted to hide it behind the main picture. It was also a pretty long story, so I needed to type this one out rather than write by hand -- my solution: use my nestie look-a-like font and printer! It looked so good, I decided to make a new tutorial! Hope you enjoy! For this video and tag I used SCAL2, but it would be the same idea if you were a DS user.

Handprint on our Hearts

This LO has sat on the side of my desk for a few months. I did some of the preliminary cuts for it before Christmas, but I couldn't finish it. This is one of my most special photos. My mum died about 5 years ago, and when she was deteriorating, I would fly out to visit her every month or 6 weeks. This photo was taken on my first daughter's last trip with me. She is staring out over the ocean, and I imagine she's thinking of collecting crabs and other good things on the beach! But, it's raining and we're not going out, so there she sits.

We left a few days later, and my mum called me and said she'd been cleaning up and Hannah's handprints were all over this window. She started to wipe them off, but kept one perfect pair of handprints. I saw her again before she died, but she didn't know who I was anymore, so this was really the last time I still had my mum. It's hard to write about even now, and was hard to put to paper. I hope I did her justice!

The geranium leaves are special too -- they were her favorite plant. I chose not to have flowers, since this was in February and hers were not in bloom. The big pot in the picture has the leaves that inspired this LO. The leaves are an svg that you can grab at the bottom. The fonts are Segoe Script (love that one!) and Heartland. The heart board punch is Martha Stewarts punch from last Valentine's day. All cuts were chalked and shaded.

My Nesties look a like font in action!

So like any little kid, when I've got a new toy I've got to give it a good test run. Here's my latest layout:

There's a bunch of things going on in this layout, and my hope is that it's not too busy! The paper is mostly DCWV Farmer's Market. Font for title is 2Peas Mr Giggles.

Next page has flourish cuts from Cricut Gypsy Wanderings and Home Accents. The main scalloped circle is from my Nesties look-a-like font, as is the tag. The flowers were precut little embellies I picked up somewhere a while ago :-)

An upclose of the circle cut: it's actually the big scalloped circle, with a regular circle inside. Then I sewed a simple chain stitch in DMC ivory pearl cotton #8 on my trusty sewing machine. The tag is embossed and journalled in white. I like the effect!

Thanks for visiting! I hope you'll leave me a comment!
