Rainy Day Fun!

It is currently snowing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and we're under a heavy snowfall advisory for April 2nd, 2011. Crazy!!! So, it seems a bit ironic to work on a LO that has spring in mind, since I have no real idea of when spring's going to arrive here!



The main die cuts on the LO feature two of my new designs, that will be available in svg packs. I'm really excited about these, especially the tags and borders!

Tag close-up, but take a look at the "ribbon": it's hard to see in the photo, but it's actually a stripe of micro-beads. Looks great in person!

Anniversary LO

Well, this is a little different! My Sheri Craft's challenge this week is Anniversary. So, I thought I'd do a card. Then I thought, no no no, I MUST work on my scrapbooks. So, you'd think that I might have a LO to do of my own marriage and anniversaries? After all, we've only been married (oh dear Lord) 15 years?!?!?

Turns out... No. I have no anniversary pictures. LOL.

So, next best is family. Here's LO of my DH's great Aunt's 50th wedding anniversary. They were such a fabulous couple! Our great Uncle passed away a year after this, and great Aunt 5 years later. They were fabulous right 'til the end. I can only hope my marriage is so successful and blessed.

Little Mommy

Continuing the Mother's day theme, I made this LO of Hannah in 2004. She's being mommy's helper and taking care of her baby and the house. Who knows where she learnt to vacuum, that's not in imitation of me!!

The Whole Fairy Book

It's done, and I'm sooooo happy with the results. In general, the layouts are simple, but I do so love the large format pictures. Here it is:

Handprint on our Hearts

This LO has sat on the side of my desk for a few months. I did some of the preliminary cuts for it before Christmas, but I couldn't finish it. This is one of my most special photos. My mum died about 5 years ago, and when she was deteriorating, I would fly out to visit her every month or 6 weeks. This photo was taken on my first daughter's last trip with me. She is staring out over the ocean, and I imagine she's thinking of collecting crabs and other good things on the beach! But, it's raining and we're not going out, so there she sits.



We left a few days later, and my mum called me and said she'd been cleaning up and Hannah's handprints were all over this window. She started to wipe them off, but kept one perfect pair of handprints. I saw her again before she died, but she didn't know who I was anymore, so this was really the last time I still had my mum. It's hard to write about even now, and was hard to put to paper. I hope I did her justice!

The geranium leaves are special too -- they were her favorite plant. I chose not to have flowers, since this was in February and hers were not in bloom. The big pot in the picture has the leaves that inspired this LO. The leaves are an svg that you can grab at the bottom. The fonts are Segoe Script (love that one!) and Heartland. The heart board punch is Martha Stewarts punch from last Valentine's day. All cuts were chalked and shaded.

My Nesties look a like font in action!

So like any little kid, when I've got a new toy I've got to give it a good test run. Here's my latest layout:



There's a bunch of things going on in this layout, and my hope is that it's not too busy! The paper is mostly DCWV Farmer's Market. Font for title is 2Peas Mr Giggles.



Next page has flourish cuts from Cricut Gypsy Wanderings and Home Accents. The main scalloped circle is from my Nesties look-a-like font, as is the tag. The flowers were precut little embellies I picked up somewhere a while ago :-)



An upclose of the circle cut: it's actually the big scalloped circle, with a regular circle inside. Then I sewed a simple chain stitch in DMC ivory pearl cotton #8 on my trusty sewing machine. The tag is embossed and journalled in white. I like the effect!

Big Daisy accent!

I love Primas. And, I really really really would like to make my own. So, a little while ago I saw a daisy made with DS on the cricut MB. So, here's my recreation, using a neat little font called Saru's Flower Ding. You can find it on dafont.com This flower is four paired layers. When you go to make it, I inked, chalked or sprayed before assembly; especially the innermost layer! Also, bigger is better with this file. I think you could make little ones if you left off the smallest layers. This one was made at 4.5" for the biggest flower, in yellow. The 4 bigger petals go scored down the middle of each petal, like a real Gerbera Daisy. I chalked with inner layers, and used Tattered Angels Glimmer mist in Sunflower:

Finally, here's the layout it was for! My DD is a city girl, and got to go to a county fair in Montana last summer. Boy, did she love it! A little girl was there exhibiting her cow, Daisy, and very graciously allowed Hannah to help her. Font is Gypsy Font; cows are from My World; daisy is from me!

New cartridge for me: Heritage!

I lately just got the new cricut cartridge, Heritage. It's soooo pretty, and quite versatile: I'm using a lot of the little tags. In this LO I've cut my pictures into the tag. I always take photos of the names of where we go, particularly because I just can't seem to remember anything these days (mommy brain!). They make great tags! Just run a bit of scrap through your cricut before cutting your actual photo to check alignment!

Yellow Perch Catastrophe!

Again, from Camping last summer. Hannah caught a tiny little yellow perch, and was just devastated! She had desperately wanted to go fish, but the reality was not expected! Font for "Yellow Perch" is Segoe Script; "Catastrophe" is MisterEarl BT (a favorite!). Thanks for visiting!

Long Car Ride?

One of my favorite LOs in a long time! Wiggles was 1 and a half, and we were going camping. Car rides are only fun when your big sister sits next to you colouring, and you can grab her markers! Sadly, puppy got dragged into the action too! Font for "colour" is Morning Limerick BTN, cut with 3 layers: regular, shadow 3 and shadow 5; Font for "Long car ride... no problem" is MisterEarl BT.
